Welcome to SCwaterfalls!!!

This site, devoted to the beauty of
waterfalls, is a hobby of mine. I hope you find the pictures enjoyable and
the information useful. Since I live in South Carolina, I primarily focus
on those waterfalls closest to me in my home state and on those in
nearby North Carolina and Georgia.

Lower Whitewater Falls (summer & fall)
These waterfall pictures are grouped by state and listed individually. I
hope navigation will be easier this way. The links to the falls are on the
left column. Other links are also on the left side below the individual
falls listings. Each page has photos, a description and the directions to
the falls so you can see them yourself.
Waterfalls remind me of God's awesome power and His
even more awesome love. He has the power to destroy this sinful
world
- just look at how water alters the Earth through floods and landslides.
However, God's love for us sinners is even greater. Rather
than destroy us, God gave us Living Water through His Son Jesus Christ.
Jesus offers you and me a wellspring of life - a bubbling yet serene waterfall in
the soul for all eternity.

While waterfalls are beautiful things to behold, please remember just how
dangerous they can be. The rocks do not get any softer just because they
are wet! They only get slicker! Here are some safety tips regarding
swimming and wading near waterfalls:
-
Before swimming in a river or crossing a
creek, be aware of any falls downstream from where you are.
-
Do not get in water immediately upstream of
waterfalls. One slip and you may go over the falls.
-
Do not climb on rocks near waterfalls. Again,
one slip...
-
View the falls looking up from the bottom or
side rather than trying to look over brink of the falls.

The
Foothills Trail
is an 80-mile hiking/backpacking trail that runs from Oconee State Park to Table
Rock State Park. There is also a spur trail that runs from Sassafras
Mountain to Jones Gap State Park. There are quite a few waterfalls accessible from the
Foothills Trail, and I have created a small page on the beautiful scenery that can be found along the trail. Click on one of the links to visit that page.

Check out
Horseshoe Falls and the history that goes along with this cascade. At
five-feet high, the falls would not normally be anything special. However, Horseshoe is a geographic oddity because it is found in the Piedmont section
- not in the mountains - of South Carolina.

Much thanks goes to Shuler Burton for his help in getting me started with web pages and for taking alot of these waterfalls trips with me.
Thanks also to my brother Larry Easler,
sister-in-law Kerry Easler, and my many hiking buddies for taking a few of these hikes
with me.
Thanks as well to the rangers and staffers at Caesars Head, Jones Gap, Table Rock,
Oconee, Oconee Station, Musgrove Mill, Gorges, Kings Mountain, Devil's Fork, and
Chau-Ram parks for all their help.

Brasstown Falls (Veil section)
persons have visited this page

beauty of God - the Creator of all things!
